Travelers who want to visit Machu Picchu, are required to purchase their Machu Picchu entrance tickets in advance.
Official Machu Picchu tickets are not sold at the entrance, so you either have to purchase your tickets in person at the Cusco office or you can purchase your tickets online. The easiest way and recommended method is to purchase your Machu Picchu tickets online.
After payment, you will receive your official Machu Picchu entrance tickets in electronic format within approximately 30 minutes. There is no need to pick them up in person. But you must print your official Machu Picchu tickets and bring it with you along with your passport in order to enter Machu Picchu. If you purchase student Machu Picchu tickets or a Machu Picchu ticket for a child or minor, you will be asked to send an electronic copy of your university id or your passport to obtain the discount. Discount Machu Picchu tickets are received within 24 hours after you mail us these requirements.
There are basically 2 types of Machu Picchu tickets to visit the citadel or main ruins: The Machu Picchu entrance ticket for the morning group which allows you to enter and visit machu picchu from 6am to 12pm. And the Machu Picchu entrance ticket for the afternoon group which allows you to enter and visit Machu Picchu from 12pm to 5:30pm.
There are basically 2 types of Machu Picchu tickets to visit the citadel + the option to hike Huaynapicchu mountain:
Option 1: The Machu Picchu entrance ticket for the morning group + Huaynapicchu 7am which allows you to enter and visit machu picchu from 6am to 12pm. + the option to hike Huaynapicchu mountain at 7am. Hiking Huayanapicchu mountain will take you 3 hours on average to climb up and down. After your hike, you can visit the the Machu Picchu citadel. They will give you 4 hours to visit the citadel after your hike.
Option 2: The Machu Picchu entrance ticket for the morning group + Huaynapicchu 10am which allows you to enter and visit machu picchu from 6am to 12pm. + the option to hike Huaynapicchu mountain at 10am. If you choose this ticket, it is recommended that you visit the Machu Picchu citadel first from 6am to 10am and then hike Huaynapicchu.
