Rainbow Mountain & Red Valley ATV Adventure – Full-Day Itinerary
Destination: Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca) & Red Valley by ATV
- 04:20 AM – 04:45 AM: Hotel pickup in Cusco.
- 05:00 AM – 07:00 AM: Scenic 2-hour drive south from Cusco to Cusipata in a comfortable tourist vehicle.
- 07:00 AM – 07:40 AM: Country-style breakfast at a traditional restaurant in Cusipata.
- 07:40 AM – 09:20 AM: Continue the drive from Cusipata to Red Valley, passing through breathtaking valleys and rural Andean communities. This marks the end of the bus segment. There will be a short stop to use public restrooms.
- 09:20 AM – 09:40 AM: Arrival at the ATV base station. Safety briefing and ATV test ride.
- 09:40 AM – 10:10 AM: Begin the thrilling 7 km ATV ride through Red Valley. Enjoy stunning scenery including lakes, snow-capped peaks, llamas, alpacas, and traditional villages of the Vinicunca region.
- 10:10 AM – 10:45 AM: End of ATV ride. Start the short 1 km uphill hike (approx. 30 minutes) to the summit of Rainbow Mountain (Montaña de Siete Colores).
- 10:45 AM – 11:15 AM: Free time at the top. Take in the panoramic views and snap unforgettable photos in this magical place.
- 11:15 AM – 12:00 PM: Hike back to Red Valley and return on the ATVs via the same route to the bus parking area.
- 12:00 PM – 01:20 PM: Return drive from the ATV station to Cusipata.
- 01:20 PM – 02:00 PM: Lunch break in Cusipata. Enjoy a buffet of local Andean cuisine (vegetarian options available).
- 02:00 PM – 04:00 PM: Return journey from Cusipata to Cusco.
- 04:30 PM – 05:00 PM: Tour ends in Cusco at Plaza Regocijo , conveniently located near restaurants and shops.
Note: All times are approximate and may vary slightly depending on weather, road conditions, and group pace.

Fitness Requirements
This tour is suitable for most travelers, but due to the high altitude and moderate physical activity involved, the following fitness guidelines apply:
- Minimum Age: 12 years old to ride an ATV (as passenger or driver with guardian's permission).
- General Health: Participants should be in good physical condition with no serious heart, respiratory, or mobility issues.
- Hiking Ability: Able to walk uphill for approximately 1 kilometer (30–40 minutes) at high altitude (over 5,000 meters / 16,400 feet).
- Altitude Consideration: We recommend staying in Cusco for at least 1–2 days prior to the tour to acclimate to the altitude.
- ATV Experience: No prior ATV experience required, but basic coordination and confidence with motorized equipment are helpful. Safety briefing and test ride provided.
Not Recommended For: Pregnant travelers, people with severe joint pain, or those with conditions aggravated by altitude.
